Arielle de Pinto

Canadian designer, Arielle de Pinto, approaches jewelry as visceral expression. Noted for her modern approach to traditional craft, she delivers uninhibited hand-crocheted chain jewelry that is both raw and voluptuous. Transforming elemental metals into complex pattern and weaves, de Pinto creates tactile pieces to wear, whether over a t-shirt or evening best. Her treatment of metal as fiber demands constant physical struggle yet yields visually delicate and supple pieces. While precision and form are essential, de Pinto adopts a consciously unrefined approach in finishing each piece, always exposing a few chain "threads". An integration of opposites, de Pinto's vision of modern finery is both precious and organic. The 2008 collection debuts works in sterling silver and vermeil across a colour palette of silvers, golds and midnights using patina applications. Drawing upon an array of disciplines and influences, de Pinto's collection manifests contemporary timelessness.

Now twenty-three years old, Arielle launched her first line while attending Concordia University's fine arts program.
